Women who have had a diagnosis of breast cancer are encouraged to continue to enrol into the free YMCA Encore exercise and information programs around Sydney as they will be resuming when the social distancing restrictions ease.

The 8 week exercise programs are designed to specifically target the side effects of surgery and treatment through mobility, stretching, aerobic and resistance exercises in line with the latest research.  The program also offers information provided by guest speakers, links to local services and is an opportunity to connect with women who have shared a similar experience in a safe and supportive group. 

Dr Katharine Hodgkinson (above) has enjoyed contributing to the regular Encore programs at Frenchs Forest for the last couple of years, sharing information on common responses to cancer and generating discussion on strategies to enhance each women’s emotional adjustment and recovery.
