Rowena provides services at Frenchs Forest rooms.

Rowena has extensive experience supporting adults living with a chronic medical illness and has a special interest in a range of transitional adjustments.  She is passionate about helping people navigate emotional stresses arising from changes to lifestyle and functioning with an aim to enhance quality of life throughout the lifespan.
Rowena works collaboratively with clients to identify goals and develop skills and strategies to improve their emotional wellbeing.  Strategies may target low mood, fatigue, anxiety/worry, grief/ loss, perinatal issues, and the impact on relationship and families. Rowena received her clinical training in the cognitive behavioural therapy tradition, and her approach is geared towards providing strategies within a safe, supportive non-judgemental space for clients.  Rowena also works closely with carers and loved ones providing care and support while also navigating their own adjustment, grief and loss issues.

Rowena’s expertise was developed within roles in public hospitals and community settings, including St Vincent’s Hospital (Sydney) and Braeside Hospital (Fairfield).  Rowena was part of a multidisciplinary cancer care team at St Vincent’s Hospital Darlinghurst liaising with oncologists, haematologists, cancer care nurses, and other allied health, to provide psychological care for a range of emotional concerns arising from a cancer during and after treatment.  At Braeside Hospital (Fairfield), Rowena supported both in-patients and out-patients through rehabilitation, palliative care and aged-care psychiatry.  Rowena has also worked with elderly patients living in the community and nursing homes to assist them to live the most active and meaningful life possible.

Rowena completed her Master of Psychology (Clinical) at the University of New South Wales following a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) with Honours at Macquarie University.  She first completed a Bachelor of Economics at Macquarie University and worked in finance for 8 years before making a career change to psychology, as this allowed her to work in line with her values of humanity and living a meaningful life.  Rowena is accredited with AHPRA and is a Medicare provider with full membership of the Australian Psychological Society.

Rowena balances her clinical practice with her very busy children and family and a love of running.
