Dr Katharine Hodgkinson has been invited to present at Ovarian Cancers Younger Women’s Network new online program in May for women living with ovarian cancer who are younger than 50 years of age. She will share strategies for assisting with communicating with one’s health care team, as well as practical tips for making the most of consultations.  Communicating with loved ones and working out the best ways to share information, and when and what information to share, will be discussed as this is often challenging as different approaches suit different people in different situations. We often feel the need to protect others, particularly children or elderly parents from information that may be upsetting, and Katharine will aim to reinforce and build on strategies people are already using. Katharine will also be presenting at the Mater North Sydney Metastatic Breast Cancer Information Series late in May on enhancing adjustment and exploring support options for women living with breast cancer. The new program is an information series to build on the support group program and will cover topics such as treatment updates from Prof Fran Boyle AM, the role of exercise and nutrition in care, and taking care of one’s emotional health and well-being. There is input from women who have a lived experience of breast cancer which can be of great value to others.
